Fís Award Winner - Teddy and I

Much to the delight of the Junior and Senior Infant children, the Fís Storyboarding competition committee recently recognised their storytelling ability and their “outstanding” creativity by awarding their storyboard submission entitled “Teddy and I” the “Highly Commended award.

The children worked collaboratively to create a storyboard which depicted the events outlined in the dramatic poem, “Teddy and I” (author unknown). Our talented boys and girls illustrated and coloured pictures, added captions and wrote the text of the poem to accompany the boards. In group discussion, they explored possible imagery, settings and scenes, that they could employ to best relay the story of Teddy, wandering off on his own in the busy town. The children captured the emotions felt and expressed by all characters in their illustrations on the storyboard.

The enjoyment and learning gained from the creative process and the recognition received from Fís through the award and their complimentary words about their artistic potential has certainly ignited a desire for further development of their ideas. The children are now considering ways to adapt their storyboard and to progress into the realm of filmmaking.

So, watch this space everyone and prepare to behold the productions of the future film-makers, directors, screen writers and digital collaborators in Scoil Cholmáin Tuairíní.
