Hockey @ Scoil Cholmáin
A few months ago, we joined a pilot program with Hockey Ireland and the Galway Education Centre to introduce hockey to our school. As part of this initiative, we’ve been gifted kits bags, 30 official Hockey Ireland sticks and balls, and we’ve been invited to a hockey blitz in Dangan at the end of the month.
To help our students prepare, David Granero, the regional development officer, will be hosting some training sessions here at the school.
It’s a brilliant opportunity for the children to pick up new skills before the blitz!
David coaches at multiple levels for Hockey Ireland, so we are incredibly lucky that he’s carved out some time in his busy schedule to work with our students. Since hockey is such a prominent sport in Galway’s secondary schools, this is also a perfect chance for our 6th-class pupils to experience the game in a fun, familiar environment with their friends.
